WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND A CHRISM MASS AT LEAST ONCE IN YOUR LIFE-(24/03/2018) OUR LADY CATHEDRAL 0900AM
Chrism Mass see the gathering of the entire diocese, bishop, priests and lay faithful, and is the occasion on which the bishop blesses the holy oils, and when the priests renew their promises to serve God and his people.
There are three oils that are blessed at the Chrism Mass: that of the sick, that of chrism, and that of catechumens. These are used wherever there is a sacramental anointing, such as the anointing of the sick, the anointing of those about to be or newly baptised, and the anointing of priests and confirmandi.
As the bishop blesses the oils, some among the gathering are very sure to receive them during the re-born by water and sprit at Easter. There is something wonderful about Chrism Mass, so, if you have not been to one, make a date for this year. Chrism Mass is celebrated Thursday morning, of the Holy Week (Tridium), but due to pastoral reasons mainly distance in our case, it has been celebrated Saturday before Palm Sunday.
